Recently, at the invitation of the Italian Society of Acupuncture and European Traditional Chinese Medicine Press, Ge Jinwen, director and secretary of the Party Committee of the Hunan Academy of Chinese Medicine, attended the Italian International Conference on Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, China-Europe Li Shizhen International Academic Conference on Medicine and Health & the Annual Convention of the Professional Committee on Li Shizhen Medicine Research and Application of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, and visited HerbaSinica Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Europaische Penzel-Akademe, and German European College of Chinese Medicine.

At the conference, Ge Jinwen introduced briefly Hunan Academy of Chinese Medicine and extended a warm invitation to Mr. Franco Menichelli, president of the Italian Society of Acupuncture, and Mr. Guo Chunbiao, president of the Italian Society of Chinese Medicine, asking them to make a visit to Hunan Academy of Chinese Medicine to boost further communication and cooperation.

Fang Rui, associate research fellow and director of the New Drug Clinical Trials Research Lab, Institute of Clinical Pharmacology of Chinese Materia Medica, Hunan Academy of Chinese Medicine, delivered a report titled Efficacy and Safety of Naotaifang Capsules for Hypertensive Cerebral Small Vessel Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical trial. He presented at the conference the academic achievements his team has made in evidence-based medicine optimal concepts for treating cerebral small vessel disease with Chinese medicine, compound animal models, and consensus on diagnosis and treatment.

“Acupuncture has gained popularity in Europe for its marked effectiveness, making me deeply realize that there is no barriers between cultures; the more traditional the culture is, the easier for it to be accepted.” Ge Jinwen expressed that this European trip has enhanced the international influence and culture shaping power of traditional Chinese medicine. In the future, the academy will continue to advance the studies of Mawangdui medicine and expand international cooperation and exchanges to better tell the stories of Mawangdui medicine studies, traditional Chinese medicine, and China’s development, thus contributing to boosting fine Chinese culture, including that of traditional Chinese medicine go global.（李香枝 方锐）
