“Riding a horse” is commonly seen in opera performance. How does an opera player perform horse-riding to show the development of the story and the artistic conception of galloping across vast landscapes on stage with just a make-do quirt in hand? Recently, Ling Ke, who won the Plum Performance Award in 2015, vividly demonstrated the “virtual” horse-riding in the lecture themed on The Magic of Peking Opera held by Hunan Vocational College of Art.
